►►►1. across，prep.越过

across 和through 都可表示“从（一定范围的）一边到另一边”，都有“穿过”之意。

【辨析】across 和through

易混词含义例句

across

across 表示某一范围的表面进行某一动作。

如街道 street，河 river 等。

Be careful when you go across the street.

If you walk across the square, you will see the

hotel there.

through

through 表示在某一范围的内部空间进行某

一动作。

如：门 door，森林 forest，窗户 window 等

Look out through the window, please.

It took us two hours to walk through the forest.

穿过这片森林花了我两个小时。

注意

cross 是动词，相当于 go \ walk across

Cross the street and go straight.

【典例】— Can a plane fly ________ the Pacific?

— Yes, but it needs to go ________ the clouds for hours.

【详解】句意：——一架飞机能飞越大西洋吗？——能，但是它需要在云中飞行数小时。

考查介词辨析。across 意为“从……（表面）穿过”；through 意为“从……（内部）穿过”。根据语境可

►►►2.opposite prep.在……的对面

I live opposite the bank.我住在银行对面。

opposite 作为介词，相当于 across from，常与名词一起构成介词短语，表示方位。

The post office is opposite/across from the school. 邮局在学校对面。

具体用法如下：

【典例】—Excuse me. Does Mr. Brown live here?

—No. He lives in the house which is opposite ours.

A．far from B．as well as C．across from

【答案】C

【详解】句意：——打扰了，布朗先生住在这里吗？——不，他住在我们对面的房子里。

考查介词短语。far from 远离；as well as 也；across from 在……对面。画线部分 opposite 的意思是“对面”，
