Paragraph 1:
“But you will be a beautiful narrator,” she said, encouraging and comforting me as always as she did. My
beloved mom, wearing a shining smile on her scarlet face, added. “The narrators part is important, too.” Thanks
to her encouragement, which calmed me down gradually, and I began to accept that the narrator part was of vital
significance. Time went so fast that it reached to the performance day. At first I was still nervous, but it was at that
very moment that I found a dandelion in my pocket. I knew my mom passed the flower to me, which meant to be
in company with me.
Paragraph 2:
After the play, I took home the dandelion. Mom carefully gazed at the dandelion, gently pressed it into the
dictionary and grinned happily as she did. “We were perhaps the only people who would press such a sorry-
looking weed.” Though decades have passed, I constantly recall our precious lunchtimes being together, staying
close to each other, bathed in the soft midday light. For this, I am forever grateful, because smiles on mothers
face and her kind act foster a man like me now!.
录音原文
Text 1
W: Hi, Mike. I heard you went to the Opera House. How was the opera you saw last Sunday?
M: Don’t mention it. It was not as good as I expected. I should have watched the live matches at home.
Text 2
W: Hey David. Has Linda invited you to her 30th birthday party tonight?
M: Yes. We can go there together, Anne. I remember you were born on Christmas Day.
W: Yes. My birthday is in five days. Every year my family throw a huge party for me.
Text 3
M: Hello, I’d like a room.
W: How long will you stay in New York?
M: I’m here for some meetings till next Friday, but I’ll be free on the weekend. I want to take this chance to look
around the Big Apple. So I can take some pictures for my cousin.
Text 4
W: Hey, Jack. Have you heard the bank where Abby works was robbed by a gunman wearing a mask?
M: Oh, yeah. I read about it in the paper this morning. Poor Abby. She must be badly frightened.
Text 5
M: Excuse me. Could you tell me what the movie will be?
W: We’ll announce the movie at take-off.
M: Thank you very much.
W: Enjoy your flight.
Text 6
M: I need to fly to San Diego during the New Year holiday.
W: Time is running out. You’d better buy your ticket now.
M: You must be kidding. It’s only November.
W: No. Seats are nearly selling out.
M: I thought I would wait until December.
W: I bet this is the first time you’ve ever flown during the New Year holiday. Well, listen to me. You really need to
buy a ticket now.
M: But maybe prices will be cheaper in December.
W: Lower prices won’t do you any good if there are no seats.
M: You’re right.
Text 7
W: Good evening. Do you have a reservation?
M: No, we don’t.
W: How many people are you together?
M: Just two people. My wife is arriving in five minutes.
W: Would you like to sit in a smoking section, a non-smoking section or whatever comes open first?
M: Well, we cannot put up with the smoking. So…
W: I see. But I’m awfully sorry. There are no vacancies in the non-smoking section now. I’m afraid you’ll have to
wait for a while.
M: How long do you think I have to wait?
W: About fifteen minutes. We’ll offer you the menu so that you can look at it in advance.
M: Okay. I’m so thirsty. Can you give me a glass of water first?
W: Sure. We always provide free drinks and snacks in the waiting area.
Text 8
M: Hi, Jennifer. Do you think the weather is too cold lately? Are you preparing to travel abroad?
W: Yes, I’m preparing to travel to some place which is lovely and warm. But I haven’t decided where to go yet.
M: Well, I must say, Sanya or some cities of Thailand are the best choice.
W: I feel the same. I’m wondering whether to go to Thailand. Have you ever been there?
M: No, I haven’t.
W: Have you ever traveled abroad?
M: Yes. In fact, I was born abroad.
W: Where were you born?
M: China. I’m not joking. I was made in China. My parents are Americans but I was born in Shanghai.
