Where can you find a nice place to relax on holiday for both you and your children? Well, I

suggest you try the beautiful and green Isle of Wight (IOW). The Isle of Wight is one of the main

tourist attractions 景点. Here is some information on a few of the attractions on the IOW.

Dinosaur 恐龙 Isle 岛

It is located in Sandown, a seaside town on the southeast coast. It's a large, lovely museum,

both fun and educational. Here you can see a large fossil 化石 collection of all kinds of dinosaurs,

as well as a gift shop. You can walk into the past and then the future, learning about the history and

the development of the civilization 文明 of dinosaurs that lived 120 million years ago.

Robin Hill Country Park

鼠.

The West of the Wight

Here we have the Marine Aquarium, the Archaeology Exhibition and the Model Railway. They

offer another opportunity to combine 结合 fun with learning. This is a great place to see ancient

boats crossing the narrow 狭窄的 strait 海峡 between the island and the mainland.

The Wight Bus Museum

This museum is run 经营 completely by unpaid volunteers. It has a bus collection stored 储存

in what was once a warehouse(仓库). Most of the buses in the museum date back to 追溯到 around

the 1910's.

Dear students,

Most of us get some exercise walking or riding our bikes to school, but that just is not enough.

Why not get into shape 进入竞技状态 by playing the most popular sport in the world---soccer 足球?

Two weeks ago, Mr. Goldstein, the physical education teacher, posted a notice about an

exciting new soccer club (for Grades 10-12). To join, all you have to do is sign 签名 your name and

be at school for the fun of it on Saturday mornings. You’ll make new friends and share information

about famous teams and players.

Mr. Goldstein will teach, so you’ll learn basic skills and new techniques 技巧 to improve your

game. That’s good news because soccer is a game you can love three seasons a year. The only time

you can’t play is when there is snow.

However, it is hard to believe that only nineteen people signed up for the new club. Maybe

kids don’t want to give up their Saturday mornings. But if you think about how we spend Saturday

mornings now, soccer looks good. Doing housework and watching TV are not as much fun as

playing soccer with friends. If you didn’t sign up because you’ve never played soccer before, don’t

worry. Beginners are welcome and Mr. Goldstein will give you more help.

Albert was an ordinary 普通的 worker in an oil company in America. His workmates gave a

nickname（绰号）“Four dollars a bucket 桶子 of oil” below his name whenever and wherever

he wrote down his name.

As time went by, people forgot his real name. Later, when Rockefeller 洛克菲勒, the board

chairman(董事长)of the oil company, heard of it, he was very surprised, so he invited Albert to

come to his office.

“Some people give you a nickname for ‘Four dollars a bucket’. Why aren’t you angry?” asked

Rockefeller with some puzzlement in his eyes.

“Oh! Mr. Rockefeller! I like this nickname very much, because ‘Four dollars a bucket’ is

our company’s advertisement 广告. As long as someone calls me‘Four dollars a bucket’ once, I

think it’s free advertisement for our company. It’s not necessary for me to get angry. Don’t you

think so , Mr. Rockefeller?”

“Oh! What a wonderful man!” Rockefeller said excitedly when hearing Albert’s words “Young

man! Work harder, you must be successful in the future! I believe in you!”

Five years later, Albert became the second board chairman after Rockefeller.

Later Albert said in one of his reports, “I don’t think we should feel frustrated 沮丧 when

we have no way to do the world-shaking things. We should treat everything actively 积极地

because maybe our future success will begin from a small thing!”

In 1971 a young man who grew up very poor was traveling across the country, trying to make

a new start for himself. Along the way he had completely run out of (用完) money and was forced

chair where the young man had been sitting. He bent down 弯腰, and came up with a $20 bill that

looked as if it had fallen on the floor and said, “Son, you must have dropped this，” the owner

said. The young man couldn't believe his luck! He quickly paid for the breakfast, left a tip 小费,

bought gas with the change 零钱, and headed West.

On_the_way_out_of_town,_he_began_to_understand_what_the_owner_did. Maybe nobody

dropped the money at all. “Maybe that fellow 同伴 just knew I was in trouble and he helped me in a

way that didn't embarrass (使尴尬) me. So I just made a promise to help other people if I can.”

Later, he worked very hard and became a rich man. Now he lives near Kansas City. Each year

he gives away thousands of dollars. He is known as the “Secret Santa”神秘圣诞老人 because at
