Reading a fable with a moral message; reading and writing about the qualities of modal students
A poor farmer called Fred/live happily/how about/keep sb. adj.
Review adjectives. Write them on the board: poor, old, small, good, hard-working, comfortable, beautiful,
warm.
Ask the students to tell you the opposite of: poor(rich), old(new), small(big), good(bad), hard-
working(lazy), comfortable(uncomfortable), beautiful(ugly), warm(cold).
1. Give the students time to read the story silently.
2. Play the cassette.
3. Select individual students to read out a paragraph each.
4. Write questions on the board for the students to find the answers:

3. In pair, students ask each other questions about the story.
1. In group of four, students prepare the sentences without writing. Select groups to say the dialogue.
2. The students write the sentences.
3. Select other groups of three to act out the dialogue.
4. Write the key words: long ago, poor farmers,
Lucky Fairy, three withes, happiness and health, disappear … on the blackboard.
