1. Walk past the house, turn left and walk along the path next to the river.

past 是介词，在另一边，到另一侧。walk/go past 走过，相当于 pass。

例句：He walked past me without stopping.

We live in the building just past the bookshop.

要点拓展：past 的其他用法：

（1）介词，晚于，在……之后。

例句：It’s half past eight now.

（2）名词，过去，往事。

例句：He was a farmer in the past.

（3）形容词，过去的，以前的。

例句：Winter is past and spring has come.

2. The treasure is under the ground in front of the third tree on the left.

句中 treasure 做名词，宝藏；珍宝；金银财宝。

例句：Knowledge is a treasure, but practice is the key to it.

要点拓展：treasure 还可以做动词，珍藏，珍视。

例句：I shall always treasure the memory of our meetings.

To treasure what you have is actually the beginning to own everything.

3. Take the second turning on the right.

turning 做名词，转弯处，不一定是十字路口。如果是十字路口，也可以将 turning 换为

crossing。

例句：Take the second crossing/crossed on the left.

要点拓展：take the+序数词+turning on the left/right 表示在第……个转弯处向左/右转，相当

于turn left/right at the+序数词+turning。

例句：Then take the first turning on the left.

=Then turn left at the first turning.

练习：Turn left at the third________(转弯处), and you will see the hotel.

答案：turning

4. How do I get there?

How do I get(to)...?用来询问“我怎么到……？”。

例句：-Excuse me, how can I get to the History Museum, please?

-It is between the factory and the hotel.

要点拓展：（1）问路的常用句型还有：

Excuse me, where is...?

Can you tell me the way to...?

Which is the way to...?

Can you tell me how to get to...?

Do you know the way to...?

（2）指路的常用句型有：

Go/Walk along/down the road.

Go straight on.

Turn right/left into...at the...

Walk on until you get to...

You can see...on your right/left.

（3）当别人向你打听，而你不知道路时，可用下面的句子来答复对方：

Sorry, I don’t know. I’m new here, too.

I’m sorry. I’m not sure. You’d better ask the policeman over there.

（4）表示感谢的常用句型：

① 当别人为你指路时，你应该用 Thank you very much./Thanks a lot.等来表示感谢。

② 当你请求别人帮助，但对方由于某种原因无法帮助你而表示歉意时，你应该礼貌地说一

声：Thank you all the same.
