1. Turn left, and to the west of the Lions’ Area, you’ll find the World of Birds.

turn left 向左转；turn right 向右转。on one’s left/right 在某人的左侧/右侧。

例句：I think we should turn left here.

Turn right after passing the post office.

注意：turn left 也可写成 turn to the left；而 turn right 也可写成 turn to the right。

练习：Turn________(向左) at the second crossing and you can find the bank.

2. Monkeys are clever and funny.

funny 是形容词，滑稽的；好笑的。

例句：My funny drawings amused the children.

要点辨析 fun, funny

fun 做名词，乐趣，快乐，享乐的事，做形容词，主要指“有趣的，好玩的”。

funny 指滑稽可笑，侧重点是让人觉得好玩或发笑。

例句：We had a lot of fun at the picnic.

Playing basketball is great fun.

It’s funny to see a man walk with his hands.

3. They jump around and make people laugh.

She has a very sweet nature.

5. Cross the bridge, and you’ll see the elephants.

cross 是行为动词，穿过，横过，强调横过某地。

例句：Look both ways before you cross the road.

要点拓展：crossing 做名词指“十字架，十字形的东西”，如：Red Cross(红十字会)。

例句：When you look at the cross, what do you see?

We donated a large sum of money to the Red Cross.

练习：Never c________(横穿) the street when the red light is on.

6. There are also birds, aren’t there?

该句是反义疑问句，由陈述句加附加问句构成，征询对前面陈述句所陈述事情的意见，或

者希望事情得到证实。其结构一般为“前肯定，后否定”或者“前否定，后肯定”。两部

分在时态、人称、数上应保持一致。

例句：She was ill yesterday, wasn’t she?

He can’t ride a bike, can he?

要点拓展：如何回答反义疑问句：

（1）反义疑问句的回答用 yes/no，但是当陈述部分是否定形式时，回答要按事实。

例句：-They don’t work hard, do they?

-Yes, they do./No, they don’t.

（2）当陈述部分是祈使句时，疑问部分要根据语气来表达。

例句：Let’s meet at the airport, shall we?

Let us meet at the airport, will you?

Have a little more Coke, will you?
