White paper explains country's vision for internet
China pledged on Monday to continue its international cooperation to promote internet development
and regulate order online, as it issued a white paper, 1 was titled "Jointly Build a Community with a
Shared Future in Cyberspace".
2 white paper introduced China's vision of internet development and governance in the new era and
its actions, shared Chinese 3 (achievement) in promoting the building of a community with a shared
future in cyberspace and outlined the prospects for international cooperation.
With the rapid growth of information technology, the internet has penetrated into all aspects of human
life and work, 4 has also made people face evermore prominent threats and challenges, Cao Shumin,
deputy head of Cyberspace Administration of China said, while 5 (introduce) the white paper.
"The situation 6 (call) for more just, reasonable and effective cyberspace governance through joint
efforts as well 7 a strong global response," she said.
The concept of building a community with a 8 (share) future in cyberspace was proposed at the
second World Internet Conference in December 2015. It not only expresses China's will to work with other
countries 9 (advance) internet development, but also gives China's solution in cyberspace governance.
Calling the internet the shared home of all of humanity, the white paper said it is the common

Passage2
Robotics startup unveils the world’s fastest walking shoes
A Pittsburgh-based robotics and engineering startup recently unveiled Moonwalkers, a pair of battery-
powered shoes that it claims can boost walk speeds by up to 250%.
1 first glance, Moonwalkers look like a pair of futuristic roller-skates, but there is actually a lot 2
(much) to them than that. You’re actually meant to walk with them the way you would regular shoes or
sneakers, letting the motorized wheels put a spring in your step. 3 (Power) by a state-of-the-art brushless
DC motor, this ingenious contraption is actually 4 platform that can be attached to a wide variety of
footwear to significantly increase your walking speed up to a reported 7mph/11kph. For comparison,
humans’ average 5 (walk) speed ranges from 2.5 to 4 mph. The sensation of walking with the world’s
fastest shoes has been compared to 6 of walking on a ‘moving walkway’ in an airport.
Designed by Shift Robotics, an offshoot of Carnegie Mellon University, Moonwalkers consist of a
300W brushless motor in each 4.2-lb (1.9-kg) shoe that powers eight polyurethane wheels. There is also an
AI-powered gearbox that increases or 7 (decrease) speed according to data regarding the wearers walk
collected by a series of sensors. The shoes are also able to detect downhill movement 8 (prevent)
accidents.
“Moonwalkers are not 9 (skate). They’re shoes. The world’s fastest shoes actually,” Xunjie Zang,
founder and CEO of Shift Robotics said. “You don’t skate in them. You walk. You don’t have to learn how
to use 10, the shoes learn from you.”

Passage3
Rise in short-sightedness in children
From the moment we're born, our eyes grow, our vision becomes clearer. 1 , others will
become short-sighted and end up wearing glasses or contact lenses to help them see everything clearly. And
some 2 (expert) claim that more of us will be wearing them in the future because of our lifestyle when
we were younger.
Even today, optometrists are reporting a rise in short-sightedness in children. The condition can
be genetic, but it's also partly being blamed on 3 number of modern-day factors--particularly children
staring at phone screens, computers and game consoles for long periods of time.
Of course, children have had increased screen time due to lockdowns imposed during the Covid
pandemic--it's been the only way 4 (access) education and communicate with others. But education 5
(general) could be blamed for the rise in myopia.
The problem appears to be more severe in some Asian countries. Some experts say that in these places
with huge educational success, children spend more time indoors 6 (study). Therefore, it seems, spending
more time outdoors could be good for 7 (children) eye health. The UK's College of Optometrists is
suggesting parents should get 8 (them) kids playing outside for two hours a day. Several scientific studies
show this can prevent or stop the 9 (develop) of myopia.
There's been a focus on using technology, such as laser surgery, for fixing myopia, but for children at
least, it seems a dose of daylight and a break from the screen might be part of the solution. Opticians also
recommend kids have regular eye tests to identify any problems 10 they become more severe.
