If you plan to visit Fiji,
you are probably looking for some fun things to do while youre there. Below are 4 unusual
places.
The Poseidon Resort (
kl)
The Poseidon Resort is an underwater resort that gives visitors beautiful scenery of sea life. It covers 255 acres. Its
covered and surrounded by a lake of salty water that is 5,000 acres and is about 90 feet deep under water, giving you a
better view of sea life right before your eyes. This resort even has a hotel for those who would prefer to have the unusual

whitehot stones barefoot. To be ready to do this, you have to be mentally prepared for it. There is lots of preparation and
strict rules that travellers follow in order to do this safely.
The Fiji Museum
The Fiji Museum is unusual due to all the amazing artifacts youll see dating back 3,000—4,000 years. This

A young boy recently received an unexpected message in the mail from his father Joseph, who died two years ago.
Rowans dad was a hardworking man who wanted to give his son the best life he could. It was why Rowans mother,
Julie van Stone, said Joseph joined the Navy and went to MIT to get two masters degrees.
While at school in Boston,he would often write to Rowan. Even when he left school and was driving back to
Colorado,he would send postcards from each state he stopped in. Those postcards were sent in 2007. “I remember him
saying he had sent 5 or 6,but Rowan had only got 3 or 4 in the mail. But I never thought anything of it,”Van Stone said.
Those postcards and pictures are priceless memories for Van Stone and her son, especially after Joseph passed away
from a rare brain disease. Rowan never had a chance to say goodbye. But,on Saturday, just days before the twoyear
anniversary of Josephs death,a postcard arrived in the mail. It arrived on March 11,
2015. The message read:“
Hello
from Pennsylvania. I love you,and I miss you so much. See you soon. Love,Daddy.”
Neither he nor his mother knows how it happened, and they may never know. But they have their own ideas. “I feel
like that was the final goodbye that he didnt get to say,”Van Stone said. Van Stone says Josephs last words to her
before he died were:“Everything is a circle. We will see each other again. All that matters is love.”
24. What did Rowans dad do to make his son live well?
A. He got many masters degrees. B. He became a soldier in the Navy.
C. He kept writing to his son. D. He said goodbye to his son.
25. When Rowan only received 3 or 4 of postcards,Van Stone .
A. paid little attention to that B. let Joseph stop sending postcards
C. drove back to Colorado D. wrote to Rowan every year
26. How long did it take for the last postcard to reach Rowan?
A. Two years. B. Five years. C. Six years. D. Eight years.
27. Where did Rowans dad send the last postcard?
A. In Boston. B. In Colorado.
C. In Pennsylvania. D. In New York.

Last fall,my dad and I visited Kindred Spirit Elephant Sanctuary, which is located in the mountains of Northern
Thailand. Although our stay was short,it turned out to be the most memorable part of our holiday.
Upon arrival,we headed to the base to learn about the elephants that were in the care. The eldest,Too Meh,had
spent much of her life giving tourists rides with a heavy iron seat tied to her back. Her daughter,Mae Doom, and
grandsons,Dodo and Gen Thong, had also spent years in chains doing hard work to entertain tourists. It broke our hearts
to hear their sad stories.
Early the next morning,we saw Too Meh and Mae Doom exploring the forest and Dodo playing by the river. Seeing
them free was a heartwarming experience. Kindred Spirit Elephant Sanctuary was founded with the goal of protecting the
welfare of elephants, and that is why this place does not offer elephant rides or elephant performances of any kind.
Instead,it tries to educate visitors about these amazing animals.
But we did more than just get to know the elephants. We also cooked and ate together with our host family, learned
about the language of the local people, and helped teach English to the children in the village. In doing these activities,
we were able to experience the local customs and culture firsthand. By providing such opportunities for visitors, the
place gives back to the village by helping the villagers make more money and learn English. Its a winwin situation.
If you want to see elephants in their natural environment,Kindred Spirit Elephant Sanctuary is the nice place to go.
Its an experience you wont forget.
28. What can we learn about Too Meh?
A. She lived through hard times. B. She gave birth to three babies.
C. She is used to wearing chains. D. She has an iron seat on her back.
