A father is worried about his 16-year-old son. He thinks the son is too weak. So the father

Dragon Head-Raising Day（龙抬头）is a traditional Chinese festival. It falls on the second day of the second

lunar month. In the year 2018, it's on March 18th.

On this day in old times, people put ashes （灰）into kitchens, and around water vats（大桶）. This was to

"take the dragon into the house".

On this day people eat noodles and dumplings. All the day's foods are named after dragons. For example, people

eat "dragon whisker（须）noodles" and "dragon teeth" are in fact dumplings.

In some old Chinese stories, dragons have power over the wind and rain. They often bring rain to world on the

second day of the second lunar month. It is said that after that day there will be more and more rain. This is why the

day is often called "Spring Dragon Day". People hope that with the help of the dragon, farming will be easier and

people will have a good harvest（丰收）in autumn.

Everyone in our school loves sports. Every morning after we get up, we do morning exercises. After the

second class, we do exercise again. We only have P.E classes twice a week, but we do exercise at five every

afternoon. The most popular sport is basketball. The boys enjoy playing it and some of the girls like it, too .Another

popular sport is football and there are a lot of football fans. We play volleyball when the weather is good.We have

school teams in basketball, football, and volleyball. Our teams often have friendship matches with teams from other

schools. When there is a match, many of us go to watch it and cheer for our side.

In America, children start school when they are five years old. In some states they must stay in school until

they are sixteen. Most students are seventeen or eighteen years old when they leave secondary ( 中等的) schools.

There are two kinds of schools in the United States: public schools and private (私立的) schools. Most children go

to public schools. Their parents do not have to pay for their education ( 教育) because the schools receive money

from the government. If a child goes to a private school, his parents have to get enough money for his schooling.

Some parents still prefer private schools, though (尽管) they are much more expensive.

Today about half of the high school students go to universities (大学) after they finish the secondary school. A

student at state university does not have to pay very much if his parents live in that state. But many students work
