NOTICE
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Xiaogan City, an English short film, called the glory of xiaogan, will be
shown in the school hall at 7: 00 pm this Saturday. Everyone is welcome to watch the film, which tells about the history
and development of our city.
The film is believed to be instructive and full of emotion. It tells the story of our city’s growing up, from small to
large, from weak to strong. After the film, each class is supposed to have a discussion and all the students are welcome to
make comments and express their views about the film.
Through the film, We will witness the glory of our city, and sincerely hope everyone can come on time!

When it stopped snowing, Jonas grabbed his shovel and got to work. Standing on Mr.Traver’s sidewalks, initially,

Jonas taken the new baseball gloves in the store when he began to practice. His perfect performance won the opportunity
to take part in the championship Baseball Game. Hard practice paid off, he and his friends won the first prize. When he
took his trophy home and put it on his shelf, his mother spotted he had become a maturer teenager, who could cope with
problems life held in store for him.

fight in the backyard last winter?
M: Of course I do. We should also do something special this year. Why don’t you go to the lake and check if it
freezes? We could go ice skating!

This is a health report for our listeners today. Within 10 years, nearly half of American adults will be overweight, or
very fat—the report predicts. In addition, the researchers warned that one in four Americans will be severely overweight
in the same period. The report used an authoritative study that lasted more than 20 years and included data from 6.3
million adults. The researchers made predictions for the future based on current trends. The study corrects for a
weakness in earlier studies. Before it, research usually depended on the national health survey. And in the survey, people
often reported their weight as less than what it really was. So it wasn’t very reliable. According to the study, the
low-income adults will be more affected than many other groups. Nearly one third of them will be severely overweight
and we have to do something about it. Because being overweight can result in many health problems. The risk of heart
disease, high blood sugar levels and cancer all goes up when someone is severely overweight. As the study predicts, by
