第十二讲 基数词和序数词
【序数词】
一、含义：表示事物的顺序的数词叫做序数词。它的作用相当于名词或形容词，可作主语、宾语、定语和
表语。
二、序数词的构成
序数词：表示事物顺序的词，其前常加定冠词 the。
数字 序数词变化规则 例词
1、2、3 特殊记 One →first 第一 two → second 第二；Three →third 第三
4～19
基数词词尾加-th
特殊：five→fifth 第五； eight → eighth 第八； nine→ninth 第九
twelve → twelfth 第十二
一般：four→fourth 第 四 six→sixth 第 六 seven→seventh 第 七
nineteen → nineteenth 第十九
20, 30 ，40,
50, 60, 70, 80,
90
-ty 变为-tie 再加 th
twenty → twentieth 第二十 thirty → thirtieth 第三十
forty →fortieth 第四十 fifty → fiftieth 第五十
sixty → sixtieth 第六十 seventy → seventieth 第七十
eighty → eightieth 第八十 ninety → ninetieth 第九十
其余两位数
将相应基数词的个位
改为基数词
twenty-one → twenty-first 第二十一；thirty-nine → thirty-ninth 第三
十九；forty-six → forty-sixth 第四十六
1) 第一：first 第二：second 第三：third
2) 第四至第十九均在相应的基数词后加-th，但第五（fifth）和第十二（twelve）均把基数词 five(五)和
twelve（十二）词尾的 ve 改为 f，再加-th。基数词八（eight）的序数词直接在 eight 后加-h，即 eighth，九
（nine）的序数词是将 nine 词尾的 e去掉，再加-th，即\ninth。
3) 整十的序数词是把对应的基数词的最后一个字母 y变为 ie 再加-th。
4) 表示“几十几”的基数词变序数词时，只将个位数变为序数词，十位数不变。
三、序数词的用法
1、序数词前一般要加定冠词 the 表示顺序。
the first day 第一天
the 22nd person 第22 个人
The Yellow River is the second longest river in China. 黄河是中国第二长河。
2、表示英语中的分数时，分子用基数词，写在前面，分母用序数词，写在后面。当分子超过 1时，分母的
序数词后要加“s”。\

3、序数词前有时也可用不定冠词 a/an，这时不再表示在具体范围内的“第几”，而是表示在原有基础上的
“又一个，另一个”。

4、序数词的缩写
序数词的缩写形式是由阿拉伯数字加上序数词的最后两个字母构成的。
first → 1st 第一 second→ 2nd 第二
third→ 3rd 第三 fourth→ 4th 第四
在用 书面 形式 表示 几月 几号时 ，一 般用 月份 名称 +日 期的 序数词 缩写形式 。例如： January 1st,
September 10th, December 23rd。
