重点句型

Pollution is a danger to our health. 

 污染对我们的健康是一种危险。 

·基本用法

 a danger to… 意为“对…的危险”。如：

 A careless driver is a danger to the public.

 粗心的驾驶员对于公众是一种危险。

It’s no use talking about things we can’t do. 

 谈论我们不能做的事是没用的。

·基本用法

 1. 此句中 we can't do 为定语从句，修饰 things，省略了引导词 that 或which。

 2. t’s no use doing sth.表示“做某事没有用处”，相当于 there is no use doing sth.。如：

 It’s no use arguing with him.

 与他争吵毫无用处。

It is no use crying over the spilt milk.

 事已至此，徒悲无益。

Though pollution is heavy now, I don’t think it’s hopeless. 

 虽然现在污染很严重，我认为不是没有希望的。 

·基本用法

 heavy 通常表示“重的”，在本句中指污染“大的，强的”。它也可以表示“雨、雪大，交通流量大”。

 heavy rain/snow（大雨/雪）其反义短语为：light rain/snow（小雨/雪）。如：

 Traﬃc is heavy around here.

 这附近交通流量大。

 If everyone starts to do something, the world will be saved. 

 如果每个人开始做点什么，地球就会得救了。 

·基本用法

 1. 本句是 if 引导的条件状语从句，从句为一般现在时，从句用一般将来时，这种情况被称为：主将从现。

 主句也可以用祈使句或包含由情态动词的句子。

 We can walk there if we can't ﬁnd a bus.

 如果我们找不到公交车，我们就走到那儿。

If you cross the street alone, you should be more careful.

 如果你一个人过马路，你应该更小心。

 If I make a mistake, don't laugh at me.

 如果我犯错了，不要笑话我。

2. start to do sth 意为：开始做某事

start to do sth=start doing sth=begin to do sth=begin doing sth

Before you start to work, I'll show you around the factory. 

 开始工作前，我要先领你参观工厂。

Do not order more food than you can ﬁnish. 

 订购你能够吃完的食物。 

·基本用法

 order 在这里意为“订购；点餐”，为动词。如：

I'veordered egg and chips for you.

 我给你点了鸡蛋和炸土豆条。

 order 还具有如下含义和用法：

 1. order v. 命令；嘱咐，order sb. to do sth.意为“命令某人做某事”。如：

The English teacher ordered me to ﬁnish the homework.

 英语老师让我完成作业。

2. order n. 顺序；调理；订单；命令；秩序。如：

The house had been kept in good order.

 房子保持得井井有条。

Today we’ll reverse the usual order of the lesson.

 今天我们将把通常的上课顺序倒过来。

3. in order 按顺序。如：

Mars is the fourth planet in order from the sun.

 火星是太阳系的第四颗行星。

4. in order to 为了，目的是。如：

We started early in order to arrive before dark.
